The roots found water. Using that water, and what little energy remained stored within itself, the acorn constructed a narrow tower that rose slowly into the sky. Baby green leaves were unfurled above ground to start collecting energy from the sun (something Clodia had seen before but continued to be amazed by). The sunlight cooked the air and water and created the complex materials needed to build even taller towers, even bigger leaves.
